Shocking Crime: Indian Software Engineer Arrested for Wife’s Murder After Nine-Month Investigation in Washington

A 30-year-old Indian software engineer has been arrested in Bellevue, Washington, and formally charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his 27-year-old wife, Raajitha Sabbineni, following a nine-month investigation that revealed he allegedly strangled her and attempted to stage the death as a suicide or accident. The arrest marks the conclusion of a meticulous investigation that exposed a premeditated crime motivated by an extramarital affair.

The case originated in October 2025 when Bellevue Police received an emergency call from Avinash Narne claiming that his wife had locked herself inside the bathroom and was not responding. Officers forced entry into the bathroom and discovered Sabbineni unresponsive. However, a post-mortem examination later revealed that Sabbineni had died due to asphyxia caused by strangulation, prompting authorities to classify the case as a homicide.

The investigation revealed deeply troubling details about Narne’s character and premeditation. Investigators discovered that Narne had been involved in a long-term relationship with another woman in India, even after entering into an arranged marriage with Sabbineni in June 2025. The extramarital affair appears to have served as the primary motive for the killing.

Evidence examined during the lengthy investigation painted a chilling portrait of systematic poisoning and manipulation. Sabbineni had repeatedly complained to her husband that beverages prepared by him had an unusually bitter taste, and on the day of her death, she allegedly messaged Narne saying that a smoothie he had made tasted like “medicine” and “cough syrup”, suggesting Narne may have been attempting to administer substances to incapacitate her before the fatal act.

The day of the murder itself revealed further disturbing behavior patterns. Narne made at least four phone calls to the woman in India on the day of Sabbineni’s death, including around the time he claimed he was trying to gain access to the locked bathroom. More horrifyingly, investigators allege that after killing his wife, Narne took a photograph of Sabbineni’s lifeless body and shared it with his girlfriend in India, demonstrating shocking emotional disconnect from the gravity of his actions.

Narne remained free for nearly eight months while investigators continued reviewing digital evidence, interviewing witnesses and analyzing forensic material, before being arrested on June 27. He is currently being held at King County Jail with bail set at $5 million and faces first-degree murder charges that could result in life imprisonment if convicted.

The case exemplifies how meticulously planned violence can initially escape detection, requiring persistent investigative efforts to uncover truth beneath constructed narratives. The tragedy underscores vulnerabilities that victims of intimate partner violence face, particularly when perpetrators systematically isolate and manipulate circumstances to obscure their actions from external scrutiny.
