Actor Shilpa Shetty and her businessman husband, Raj Kundra, have approached the Bombay High Court seeking an interim suspension of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The couple’s plea is in connection with an ongoing investigation into a ₹60 crore fraud and cheating case related to their now-defunct firm, Best Deal TV Pvt. Ltd.

The petition was filed to seek permission for the couple to travel abroad for professional and personal commitments, including an immediate family trip to Phuket. Their counsel argued that denying them the opportunity to travel—especially given Kundra’s frequent business needs and Shetty’s acting assignments overseas—violates their fundamental right to carry on their profession. The applicants also highlighted their cooperation in past cases and pointed out that they have travelled internationally multiple times since a previous criminal case was registered in 2021, always returning without fail.

However, the Bombay High Court has currently refused to grant any immediate relief, specifically denying their request for the Phuket trip. The bench has directed the Public Prosecutor to file a detailed reply to the couple’s application by the next hearing date, scheduled for October 8. This legal challenge underscores the continuing scrutiny on the celebrity couple as they attempt to navigate their professional lives amidst the restrictive measures imposed by the EOW’s investigation. The outcome of the next hearing will be crucial in determining their ability to resume international engagements.
