A massive fire that broke out at Mumbai’s Link Square Mall in Bandra West was finally brought under control after an intense 22-hour firefighting operation. The blaze, which began in the basement of the commercial complex around 4:10 am on Tuesday, was fully extinguished at 1:41 am on Wednesday, according to officials.
Firefighters from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, along with civic authorities and other emergency teams, worked tirelessly throughout the day and night to contain and douse the flames. The fire reportedly started in the basement area of the mall, which houses several restaurants and retail outlets, triggering a complex challenge due to dense smoke and restricted access. Despite the scale of the incident, no casualties have been reported so far.
Authorities said a detailed investigation would follow to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of structural and commercial damage. The prolonged operation caused significant disruption in the surrounding area, including traffic restrictions and temporary power outages, as a safety precaution.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over fire safety compliance in commercial spaces across Mumbai. Civic officials have reiterated the importance of regular audits and stricter enforcement of fire safety norms to prevent such occurrences in the future.
