The iconic Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai has introduced a dress code for devotees, aligning with traditional customs observed in several temples across India. The temple trust has issued guidelines requesting visitors to dress modestly, ensuring that attire reflects the sanctity of the religious space. The decision aims to uphold cultural values and maintain the spiritual atmosphere within the premises.

The temple administration has urged devotees to avoid wearing shorts, ripped jeans, sleeveless tops, and other attire deemed inappropriate for a place of worship. Instead, visitors are encouraged to opt for traditional Indian clothing such as sarees, kurtas, salwar suits, or other modest outfits. While the temple has not implemented strict enforcement measures, security personnel and temple staff will remind devotees of the new guidelines at the entrance.

This move follows a broader trend observed in temples across India, where dress codes are being reinforced to preserve religious traditions. While some devotees welcome the initiative as a step toward maintaining decorum, others express concerns about personal freedom and modern attire preferences. The Siddhivinayak Temple, one of Mumbai’s most revered religious sites, continues to attract thousands of devotees daily, and the administration emphasizes that the dress code is meant to enhance the spiritual experience for all visitors.
