Private Bus Catches Fire Under Aarey Metro Station

A private intercity bus caught fire near Aarey Metro Station in Goregaon East on Friday evening, sending thick smoke and flames into the surrounding area. The incident took place along the Western Express Highway, creating panic among commuters and causing significant traffic disruption in the area.

According to officials, the bus, operated by Mahadev Travel and travelling from Mumbai towards Gujarat, reportedly caught fire after a suspected short circuit. Reports indicate that seven passengers were on board, and all of them were safely evacuated before the blaze intensified.

Fire brigade and police teams rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. The flames and heavy smoke were visible around the metro station, prompting temporary disruption to metro operations as a safety precaution. Metro authorities later confirmed that the station itself was unaffected and services were restored.

The incident also led to heavy congestion on the Western Express Highway, with traffic movement affected in the vicinity. Authorities are expected to ascertain the exact cause of the fire as further details emerge. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.
