Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation during the Army Day Parade 2025, unveiling India’s groundbreaking Samudrayaan project, which aims to propel Indian scientists to an unprecedented depth of 6,000 meters undersea. The initiative, a bold step in ocean exploration, places India among an elite group of nations with the capability to explore such depths.
Highlighting the project’s significance, PM Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to future-focused innovation. “Our Samudrayaan project is going to take scientists to a depth of 6,000 meters in the sea, where only a few countries have been able to reach. Our government is leaving no stone unturned in working on any possibility of the future,” he stated.
The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to reflect on India’s strides in shedding colonial legacies, citing the Navy’s adoption of a new flag inspired by the maritime legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. “It is very important that we get rid of the symbols of slavery. Our Navy has shown leadership in this too,” he remarked.
