In the Ramayana Part 1 trailer released on July 30, Lord Parshuram is depicted kneeling before Lord Ram and offering him Sharanga, the celestial bow of Lord Vishnu. Speaking to Collider at a special event in Los Angeles, Ranbir confirmed the double role, explaining: “Lord Vishnu had different avatars. Lord Rama was an avatar, and Lord Parashurama was an avatar before Lord Rama. Just to get the opportunity, how I got to play Lord Rama, to also play Lord Parashurama was fantastic.” The actor’s enthusiasm reflects both the prestige and complexity of portraying two interconnected divine incarnations.

Ranbir spent an entire year in preparation before shooting began, approaching the dual roles with extraordinary depth and consideration. His preparation extended far beyond physicality, emphasizing spiritual and emotional understanding of the characters. “Apart from body language, I think if you deeply understand the spirituality and the emotionality of the characters, everything starts from there,” he said. “That is what I did the year leading up to the shoot of Ramayana, to understand who these people and characters are, what they stand for and what their motives are.”
