The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has created history by receiving an unprecedented Rs 97 crore in donations in a single day, marking an extraordinary milestone in the temple’s operational history. The massive surge comprised over Rs 87.34 crore from 2,354 online donors and Rs 9.63 crore from 106 offline contributors, demonstrating the overwhelming devotional fervor of millions of pilgrims supporting one of India’s most revered religious institutions.

The record-breaking donation day occurred ahead of significant policy changes regarding the Srivani Trust donation scheme. The TTD Board met on Tuesday and implemented new darshan timings for donors, which took effect from Tuesday midnight, prompting devotees to make substantial contributions under the previous policy framework before the revised regulations commenced.

This exceptional response reflects the deep emotional connection millions of devotees share with Lord Venkateswara and the temple’s mission. The surge in donations illustrates how devotees actively participate in supporting the temple’s operations, charitable activities, and spiritual preservation efforts when policy changes are announced, attempting to maximize benefits available under existing frameworks.

Tirupati Balaji Temple stands as one of the world’s wealthiest religious institutions, and according to the latest TTD White Paper, the trust owns assets worth approximately Rs 2.26 lakh crore, including gold deposits, fixed deposits, land holdings and investments, while receiving donations exceeding Rs 1,500 crore annually and welcoming over three crore devotees yearly.

The temple’s sophisticated donation management system reflects its massive financial operations. The temple receives daily donations ranging between Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 6 crore, with donations collected in large donation boxes known as hundis, with between six and twelve hundis filled daily with cash, coins, jewellery and other valuables.

Advanced security infrastructure ensures complete accountability of every rupee received. Donations are transported daily to the Parakamani Building, where dedicated staff segregate coins, currency notes, and jewellery into separate categories. The Parakamani Building is equipped with high-resolution CCTV cameras linked to AI-powered monitoring systems that track staff movements and detect suspicious activity, maintaining transparency while minimizing risks.

As the record-breaking day concludes, Tirupati Temple reinforces its position as India’s most generous receiving sanctuary, where millions express their faith through offerings that sustain the temple’s spiritual and charitable missions. The Rs 97 crore achievement symbolizes the enduring devotion that has made Tirupati an eternal beacon of Hindu faith and religious philanthropy.
