In the adrenaline-fueled world of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, the line between cinematic fiction and geographic reality has become one of the film’s most fascinating talking points. While the narrative plunges viewers into the gritty, high-stakes heart of Karachi’s Lyari district, one of its most visually arresting sets is actually located much closer to home. The palatial, modernist bungalow belonging to Hamza Ali Mirza and his wife, Yalina, which serves as a symbol of Hamza’s meteoric rise within the underworld, is not a Pakistani estate but a luxury residence in Amritsar, Punjab.

Known as “Ananda,” this architectural marvel was designed by the Punjab-based firm 23DC Architects. Spanning a sprawling one-acre plot with a built-up area of nearly 20,000 square feet, the property has become an overnight sensation following the film’s record-breaking March 19, 2026, release. The architects recently took to social media to confirm that the residence, which took years to conceptualize and was completed in 2024, provided the backdrop for several of the sequel’s pivotal emotional and action-heavy sequences, including the lavish parties and the high-tension domestic standoffs that define the couple’s arc.

Ananda’s design is a masterclass in the “minimal-maximalist” aesthetic, blending cold, grey modern facades with warm, traditional soul. The entrance is guarded by quadruplet monolithic Angkor-style Buddhist statues, leading into a double-height living space centered around a dramatic black marble spiral staircase. Perhaps the most iconic feature is the 25-foot Singhasana that overlooks a massive central fire pit, where Hamza and Yalina navigate the complexities of their dangerous life. By utilizing a real, lived-in space of this caliber rather than a traditional soundstage, the production achieved a level of tactile luxury that grounded the film’s geopolitical intensity. For audiences, the revelation that this piece of Karachi’s high life is actually standing in Amritsar adds another layer of intrigue to a franchise that continues to redefine the scale of Indian espionage thrillers.
